Chick Young to speak at the Inverclyde Awards

Some familiar faces will be gracing the stage again for the 2016 Sports Personality Awards event in the Greenock Town Hall on Friday 12th May at 6.30pm for 7pm.

Football pundit Chick Young from the BBC will be returning as the main speaker this year. Chick said, ‘I am both delighted and shocked to be asked to be your speaker again at these prestigious awards. With a career wandering around Champions league and International football, it makes you realise sport at the grass roots is unbelievably important.

‘Despite being a St Mirren fan I have a huge affection for the Inverclyde area and wish Morton well in the play-offs and hope they make the Premiership. And Jim Duffy should be Manager of the Year.’

The occasion will be presented again by TV presenter Jean Johansson who is delighted to be back at the awards. She will be ably assisted by Mike McLean from Your Radio.

There will also be a welcome return for the Greenock Rock Choir for a cameo performance of up to 100 singers as part of the event.
